October Half-term
We are approaching the half-term break, which is from 24th-29th October. Have you booked your half term activities yet?
Music... Mafia... Madness... (and loads of fun)!
This autumn half term, the theme will be music and mafia, which will be explored through studio workshop sessions and some very exciting, fun roleplay games.
"Music Mafia Madness" is an interactive workshop that will allow young people to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the arts by introducing them into and getting them involved in new art forms that they may not have heard of before.
Feel free to bring in costumes - hats, glasses, suits, anything to look like a real mafioso!
This is a great opportunity for your child(ren) to build their portfolio and accelerate the achievement of their Arts Award certifications.

To make sure every student practices as much as possible, we will be introducing our brand new Student of the Month Award, which starts from 31st of October 2022!

Dear Sir/Madam,
Welcome to the start of the brand new academic year 2022-2023, we hope you have all had an amazing summer!

Queen's Passing
We respectfully recognise and mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the beginning of this month. A wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother who demonstrated an incredible sense of duty, dignity, and quiet power through her constant presence in so many of our lives. May her soul rest in peace.
As a mark of respect for the state funeral of the Queen, we have taken the decision to close the music centre on Monday 19th of September to allow our staff to mourn and pay their respects. This will mean that all lessons taking place on Monday the 19th September will be rescheduled to take place in the retake week from December 5th - December 10th 2022.

*Some of the retake lesson will have to take place before the retake week. If this applies to your child, you will be contacted by their teacher beforehand.
New Term Information
Our Autumn Term starts on Monday, the 5th of September 2022 and ends on the 3rd of December 2022.
Online Music Academy Closure
We would like to use this opportunity to let you know that our OMA platform will be discontinued. This means that there will be no online lessons at Templesprings from the new Autumn term 2022. The last online lessons will take place on Friday, the 15th of July. We really appreciate your custom and loyalty throughout our online lessons courses, but unfortunately they are not sustainable for us as an organisation anymore.
For all of our existing online clients who would want to continue accessing music lessons, we have many different in-person lesson plans specially for you. Please contact us on 07557 988246, or reply to this email, to let us know if you would like to carry on with in-person lessons.
End of The Audio Ambitions Programme
It has been 2 wonderful years since we received the grant from Youth Music. This grant enabled us to make music accessible to children and young people who face social and financial barriers to music participation in Thurrock. We provided music scholarships in term time to 200 local children (4-17 y.o.) accessing over 6000 music lessons. We had 6 cohorts of students from different backgrounds and levels, all of which have successfully completed a music lesson course on their preferred instrument.
We also provided tailored support to our students who successfully achieved a total of 161 Arts Award Discover, 46 Explore, and 3 Arts Award Gold certificates, and worked with local schools/faith groups to engage children in taster sessions.
Overall, it was an amazing journey for both our team and for our students. The last scholarship classes will take place on Wednesday, the 13th of July.*
We are looking forward for more grants and funding in the future, so keep an eye out on our newsletters and socials to not miss out on new scholarship programs!
*If you'd like your child to continue accessing music lessons after the scholarship, please don't hesitate to reply to this email or contact us on 07557 988246, and we can offer you a paid lesson plan at a discounted price.
FREE! Exclusive for ATP students - Holiday activities

Dear Parents/Carers
Working Through Arts Award
Firstly, we want to say well done to all the students for working so hard to achieve their Arts Award. This week we have set homework for students who are working towards the Explore certifications.
The students are required to access the Explore handouts in the student portal or click here to access the handouts.
Please support your child in accessing these handouts. Note that students are required to submit this in a timely manner! For assistance on how to complete the homework, supporting information can be found here: Working Through Arts Award: Explore
Consent for Photo and Video Recordings of Tutors
Thank you to all who have provided the consent for Templesprings to be able to record the sessions as part of your child's musical journey.
We have noticed that some parents are recording the sessions, and we do understand your enthusiasm to support your child's learning. However, we would appreciate if you can ask the tutors for their permission also before you record.
Thank You to the Evans Family
Lastly, we would like to offer our condolences to Mark Evans who recently lost his brother Ian. Ian was passionate about music and supporting young people. Mark and the family have therefore decided to support Templesprings by setting up a Just Giving Fund for Templespings. We greatly appreciate this and say a MASSIVE THANK YOU for supporting our work in the community.

Dear Parents/ Carers
In the past few weeks, we have witnessed unquestionable injustice and violence. The wrongful death of an African-American man George Floyd, at the hands of those responsible for enforcing the law horrifies us. These events and subsequent protests dramatically and tangibly highlight the social injustice and race relations challenges we face across the globe.
We are very proud to say Templesprings is an inclusive organisation, demonstrating the values of tolerance and equity for all who access our service. We are known for the respect we accord to all regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, abilities or socio- economic status. Therefore we, lend our voice to speak up against injustice, systemic and structural inequality in our society. Advocating for change, for inclusion and equity for all.
We have very important work to do to achieve a society that we all want to be part of, one that is free from prejudice, injustice and inequity. We are in the process of setting up 'Courageous Conversations' and we will share more with you in our next newsletter. So we encourage you to speak up against injustice of any kind and not be silent for the sake of the generations to come!

Ian Evans Scholarship Fund
Also we want to thank all those who have donated to Ian Evans Scholarship Fund. We have been amazed by the generosity in his loving memory. A week on, £8,500 has been generously donated. This will allow Templesprings to make music accessible for those with disability which Ian was a passionate advocate of. For more information or to donate, please click here and feel free to share with your network.
Volunteering Week - Thank You
Last week we celebrated volunteering week. We want to take the time out to celebrate all our volunteers and thank you for your hard work and dedication. With your help we continue to deliver the outcomes for our community.

We hope this email meets you and your family well
End of another term...
It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of another term.
We want to say a massive well done to the children for their perseverance and to all the parents for their support. We are super proud of what the children have been able to achieve as we have been working towards their Arts Awards Explore Logs.
We realise many of the families needed support as we completed Part A of the portfolio. Therefore as part of our summer holiday programme we will be offering Arts Award Portfolio days where we will be able to support your child to compile their Arts Awards Explore Logs in the centre. There will be an extra cost for these services.
